Horse hooves – preventing thrush

Horse hooves – preventing thrush with essential oils.

Horse hooves – preventing thrush with essential oils. Healthy hooves are so important. Don’t wait until your horse gets thrush. Make a thrush preventative spray to use in the wet weather. In a 4 oz spray bottle of water, add 8 drops of Dottera’s onguard blend, two drops of oregano, and a small amount of fractionate coconut oil. Clean hooves, shake well, spray on the bottom of hoof and frog. Use in wet weather or a couple times a week to keep the hooves healthy. If your horse gets thrush, you will need a more aggressive approach. Using the same oils, make into a paste with solidified coconut oil, mix well. Apple with finger or paint brush, two to three times daily until thrush is gone.

Whipped body lotion

How to make an All Natural Whipped body Lotion for dry skin. Your skin will thank you! <3

Whipped Body Lotion Ingredients

  • 1 cup Organic coconut oil
  • 1/2 cup Shea butter
  • 1/4 tsp Vitamin e oil
  • Essential oil of your choice (Approx. 5-10 drops)
  • Small glass jars (4oz – 8oz)

To make your own whipped body lotion, start by melting shea butter and coconut oil on low heat in a double broiled. If you do not own one, not to worry, you can simulate one by filling a small amount of water into a bottom pot, and placing a smaller pot inside filled with coconut oil. Do not allow to boil or get too hot, just barely melt, stirring often.

Once melted, let cool completely. Whip the now cool shea butter and coconut oil on low for about 20 min until consistency is creamy. Add vitamin e oil, mix well.

Mix in essential oils of your choice, I like using lavender as it is very good for your skin. Other great oils to use: Ylang-Ylang, Geranium, Patchouli, Frankincense, just to name a few.

Transfer the mixed lotion into a small jar of your choice. I like to use 4oz mason jars, and remember, a little lotion goes a long way.

Use on dry spots, before bed, or after shower. Lotion will go on a bit oily, however, will absorb and dry quickly. You will see the results with just one application.

Also great as a gift! Enjoy! 🙂

How to Make an EO Roller Bottle

To make your own Essential Oil roller bottle here is what you need;

  1. Amber or Blue roller bottles (to keep light out)
  2. Fractionated Coconut Oil (high quality trusted brand)
  3. Small steel funnel
  4. Essential Oil of your choice
  5. Optional items; dropper and bottle opener

To make your own Essential Oil roller bottle start off with the Essential oil of your choice. One oil like lavender for example, or if you are making a blend you of course need all oils you would like in your blend.

When making a single oil essential oil roller bottle, I typically use about 20 drops in a 10ml bottle. You can use a funnel if you feel more comfortable dropping the oils in the roller bottle, or you can use a small dropper, I usually just drop them in directly, very carefully. If making a blend, I divide the essential oils up depending on how many total I am adding.

Then top off the bottle with fractionated coconut oil. For this I would highly recommend using the funnel, and be very careful not to overfill. I add it very small amounts checking the bottle often.

Last insert the ball into the top of the bottle, tipping the bottle carefully to allow the oils to mix. Cap off with the lid and you are finished. If you would like to add a roller bottle sticker to identify the content, you can use a small circle to place on the top of the lid. Or you can put any sticker on the bottle itself. Either a blank sticker that you can customize, or you can purchase preprinted stickers. #happyrolling
